How many do not have an updated Inventory and Serial Number list of items for their boat and related ?
When SA was in UK - I used to keep insurers - I used KC Powell - informed by an Excel spreadsheet of all serial numbers on outboards, main engine, GPS, VHF, Tillerpilot etc. In fact if it has a serial number or an ID - even items that had no individual ID were listed with replacement value, bought in value, condition at that time, stored on boat or at home etc.
I included everything that could be "nicked" and had significant value. I also looked upon it as if the boat sank, how do you remember all the boat gear you had on it ?
It was brought home to me many years ago when my Snap 23 was broken into and literally emptied. After advising Insurers of probable list of items missing - I kept remembering other items - in the end I had to give up as they - Newton Crum refused to update lists after 1 or 2 calls ! (This was last boat I ever had NC insure ....)
I estimated my losses after that claim were large and I never wanted similar again.
Think on - what cost to replace what's on your boat ? And don't forget that items generally not covered by Marine are usually covered by Home Contents.
So dust off excel ... cover of your printer ... file those details !!
