So the girls -pushed me to cast of lines and venture on the river ... they handed across a large bottle of fine Pilsner ... so who could refuse ..
Wind was light and steady ... but not really enough to hoist sails .. still it was a part cloud sky with promise of spectacular red skies .. warm and quiet.
So of we went .. channel out of canal is now well and truly set ! and set the autohelm ... engine at low throttle and low sound ... that easy bob bob bob sound as it chugs along ...
Girls went forward with their bottle of champers - me with my Pilsner ...
It was glorious ..... the further upriver we went - the quieter it got ... odd fisherman with their lines looking for that fish ... odd swimmers from summer houses drifting around.
Fantastic houses edging out of the forest to pontoons out into river ...
Idyllic. The river became smooth as glass the further we ventured ... we went further than ever before even with the small boat .. with good deep water all the way.
Finally at about 22:30 ... with sun dipping below the trees and glorious red skies ... we turned around and headed home ...
Everything was running and going so smooth ... engine with no hint of that grating sound ... bob bob bob 'g away happily ...
We entered the canal .. Svet picked up the bow buoy line, dropped over cleat ... few ahead / astern dabs on engine and stern swung to pontoon and tied up.
That was 4 hours of utter contentment ... girls were full of fresh-air and smiles ...
Yep ... I can't see me changing ...
(AND I still have 1/2 a tank of Red Diesel left !! ;D ;D ;D )
