Hi All, My boat insurance is up for renewal next week. Since first insuring my boat I have had 3 different Brokers, and now a new insurance company. this year's third party only premium has gone from £105 last year to nearly £140 this, which includes a £15 setting-up fee !! I've been seeking quotations on line, and on the 'phone, but not much success. Either the boat is not long enough, or it's too old, or the Companies only insure Fully Comp. Had a good quote from SAGA for £78, but they couldn't cover me even for a one-off trip to Guernsey as my boat is less than 24 feet! As she's registered (Part 1) in Guernsey, I couldn't accept that, LOL!. If any of you kind folk know a good Broker/Comapny that insure 22 footers for Third Party, with the occasional Channel hop, I'd love to hear from you. Thanks in advance. Geoff in Cornwall.

I guess you are lucky they are not insisting on a survey too!
Mines around 300 fully everything including Brittany etc, but then I think Navigators will pay........

Ken hit the link before me ... I had Basic Boat Liability for a while and they were fine. Some will try to tell you that it doesn't cover for salvage - not true - It does. Salvage - actually it should be called "Recovery of sunk boat" is required by all marinas / pontoon providers - obvious really !!
The other interesting bit is Basic Boat is not actually insurance of the boat - it's insurance of YOU and what you do !!
I just wish they covered out here.

Problem with these people is that they are only coastal waters with 12 mile limit. I used Porthcawl Insurance Brokers who set me up with Navigators (part of the Zurich Group). Unlimited single-handing, continental Europe covered. The only problem is the season. They insist on lift-out Sept-March. Just under £300 and they allow me to pay in monthly installments. I suspect you can half that 3rd party only.

Hi Guys,
Yes, I looked them up and everything seems to be OK. Might just give them a call later, but with my RYA membership the cover charge seems to be very acceptable. As was said, they seem to cover the person for negligence, and not the boat. Same thing really, but I want to be 100% sure.
Thanks for all your comments.

Hi Guys,
Just had a quote from Nautical, who quoted me £77 Third Party, excess of £100, and £3 Million cover, Inland and coastal waters UK, extended to include Continental waters Brest to the river Elbe. This quote is cheaper than the Basic Boat, and is for the boat.
This seems to be a good deal, and much cheaper than my existing renewal, as I said before.
