Like many small boats in the mid 20's size range ... I have a hanging locker that is a small area opposite the toilet compartment. It's not wide enough to hang a jacket across the space. and when hung on the coat-hooks they spread out into the narrow walkthrough to forecabin. Meaning that everytime you go fwd, you shoulder them aside.
Has anyone solved this problem ? Or managed to find a way to hang the jackets differently ?
I wondered whether to put lines / webbing hooked across the gap to hold the jackets in ... maybe even wood bars dopped into slots ...

Most I have seen use shock cord or that elastic netting. Like many small boats in the mid 20's size range ... I have a hanging locker that is a small area opposite the toilet compartment. I know it's not a good photo ... plus that's the EX talking to previous owner - taken day I bought the boat .... But fwd of galley to right top, the bulkhead with the paper towel holder on is the wet-locker aft bulkhead ..... Here's one ... bit blurry ... but you can see the jackets encroaching into the walkthrough ... (this photo has present missus ... she's making a sarny for me !! ) So looks like Jims reply agrees with what I was thinking of - some sort of strap across ...

Wet stuff I put in the bog, which has waterproof surfaces everywhere & drains into a sump that can be sponged out.
In the small hanging locker I use plastic hangers from kid's clothes which are narrower than adult ones. Ok so the gear doesn't sit too well on them, but they do fit in the locker & don't suffer much from a couple of weeks use in summer.

My Bog has no "waterproof surfaces" well not as so you could hang dripping clothes. The idea of "kids hangers' - not thought of that ... they might allow me to hang across the locker, so I can set them back in ... Mmmm excellent - now have a couple of possibilities ...
