Our Nigel swears by Cillit Bang..... I have to say that i am not so sure. The other thing you could try is Bar keepers friend. It conmes as a powder ... put make a thick past of it and rub gently. I am pretty sure it is made with Ox Acid and it shifts rust stains off our white sink and on the GRP on Bluey

Or just leave it, wont sail any faster! Mine still has blood stains on from when the mast came down and my builder mate tried to hold it up (Strong of arm, thick of head!). I dont like the idea of any acid on my sails and just do a gentle wash at the end of each season on 30 degrees with Dreft. Some stains wont be moved but good enough for me.
Cheers Steve

I wouldn't put either on a sail ............ rust stains on a sail are common problem and many haven't found the answer !! My suggestion if the stains are that big and bad - dye the sail !! But that is daft I know ... You may have some luck with repeated use of Vanish or similar local scrubbing of the stain. But beware the cloth doesn't get "scarred" and the "filler" get washed out. Sail cloth has a filler in the weave to give it a "sealed" effect to not "leak" wind ....

All sorted now thanks Nigel , her ladyship has decided that I don't have time to waste trying to make them look nice , so I'll put up with a few stains and hope it doesn't make me look unprofessional
