I had my boat antifouled for the first time in August last year, I used a navy blue Blakes Interspeed Ultra. I had the boat lifted yesterday to check anodes, especially bowthruster as I wanted to see how they coped, the antifould was immaculate and looked like new, was i lucky or is it great stuff. As for the anodes, well they were just under a half gone, but enough (tough call really) for me to decide to change most of them apart from the large ones on the top of the leg, thought I may as well seeing I had paid for the lift, what it has shown me is that they will cope for a year no problem at all in future.
I had the Volvo mercathode electronic corrosion protection system fitted, seems that it is doing it's job.
So how often do most people change their anodes, is once a year good?

Change mine every year as a matter of course. I din't think I would get 2 years out of an anode, and while it's out for antifouling it may as well get changed.

Hmm. I check mine whenever I,m on board & the tide's gone out. Seem to last for years, but I only have bronze seacocks & prop to protect, so I could probably manage without. And changing could be done within a day or two depending how far I am from a swindlery.
