When I joined this club/group I thought it would be full of members/users heping each other, but I am sorry to say it is the same few people, the same boring input. I am not sure the name is correct "Small Boat Club" I think it should be "The same old few boat club" So I am off, good luck the same old boring few.

Thank you for your immense contributions! Strangely, what you get out of anything is proportional to what you put in.
It is full of people helping each other, and rudeness like that is not part of what we do. Perhaps that's why you think us boring? Best wishes with the rest of your life.

It's a small forum, and it's the same in every one I'm a member of - only a few post regularly, have a look at the percentage of regular posters on a giant site like YBW, we probably come out better.... Good luck in your search for a big, busy one where everyone is as friendly as we are here.

I'm sorry you feel like that. The club is what it is. membership is open to who ever wants to join. We can't force people to join or to post, in fact that isn't what it's about at all. Happy sailing Jim When I joined this club/group I thought it would be full of members/users heping each other, but I am sorry to say it is the same few people, the same boring input. That's a shame because you are quite right that it is a small forum with not many active members and, at times, it gets a bit quiet and could do with some new posters... but the fix for that would be for some like-minded people to take part a bit more rather than a lot less. I can't agree that it's boring or unhelpful. I very much appreciated your advice with my starter motor problems and I think you got good advice (some of it professional) about your engine installation and recently even about radar vs AIS vs keeping the money (even if the replies might have seemed a bit dismissive on second reading). You get some really good posts on here (a reasonable percentage of which are even about boats but I get a lot from the off-topic stuff too). Some of the cruising stories and photographs are simply wonderful stuff that I don't think you'll find elsewhere. I'm also repeatedly taken aback by the way some posters will go out of their way to help others. Recently, one member generously and a tad bravely took a complete stranger and sailing newcomer out for a few days on his boat. Another, on meeting me and realising how hopelessly impractical I can be, went off and got some bits made for my boat and posted them to me. And I'm not a social person at all but I've managed several good evenings and a really good day out with people from here. Anyway, I hope you get your boat sorted out and afloat and find somewhere that suits you better...

I must say that SBC has some great success stories.... Jason and Dad being one.
I've had endless help and advice from Nigel and Badger. With out Badgers help I would not be the proud owner of a new engine installed at a very very sensible price.
Sixpence has had advice and I sent him some otherwise unused epoxy... the list goes on.
SBC may not be to everyones tastes but for many it is....
Here's to a good season !

I must say I am sorry you feel this way but in twelve months you have only posted 21 times which is not a lot. But this pace to me is like the old fashioned local where you could pop in every night and find the same people propping up the bar ready for a friendly chat, or leave it for a month or two come back in they wold still be there and make you feel welcome. Come back in and give us some topic to explore or chat about.

Bit pointless posting this seen you wont be back but i cant help but stick my two cents in here not for you but for the others members.
I have been a member of loads of forums for all sorts of topics, Fishing, Biking, Cars etc... Never ever have i come across anywhere with people that are as helpful and friendly as the members here. they will literally bend over backwards to help each other out. And i suppose because we are a small tightly knit community thats exactly what enables us to get to know each other on more than an internet basis, thats exactly what makes this site great, we become personal friends, which is alot more than can be gotten from your huge busy forums with half a million members, where everyone and there opinion just blends into annonimity, i know which i prefer.
Secondly, most of the members here have been sailing and boat building most of there lives, and really do know there stuff, everyone here has something to offer the group, often it is professional help.
Jason.

Wow!! Where did that come from? Always thought it was a nice, friendly and helpful forum.
Yep there are a few that post a lot but without the posters it aint a forum! I have given help, received help and met some pretty genuine people on this forum.
I did ask Jacobo a question via PM but never received an answer... Perhaps he wants more take, take, take than give, give, give....

Yeah, if you look at his posts, he has actually been helped & also helped others. Not a major contributor, but certainly active on a small scale.
I'm on a number of fora, and some I don't visit that often because there is limited mutual interest, but I couldn't & wouldn't consider throwing the toys out of the pram like that!

Well been think'n about this when I saw the post this morn.
We all, if honest fall-out(get annoyed) with this forum, I do @ least twice a year so far.
But like everyone too, I give & get given; made (many)friends, not lost none.
Yes its boring but then some gems comes along(like Jim has said), 'Dad & Jason', funny really cause I've met 'dad' a couple of times, & yes he's my dad too; the funny thing is Steve laughs @ himself, I guess a lot of us have had someone like that in our lives who've helped us get our 'legs', I got it when I did my RYA practical, & have remained friends ever since, even met up on my French trip a couple of years ago when he was coming back from Spain.
We all have 'bad-hair' days, so I guess we need you to post again, even generate a topic. We are in awe that you can rebuild engines, I would have bits left over....

I have helped others here and been helped myself; in ways both boaty and non-boaty. This is the friendliest forum I know. Not everything that gets posted is of interest to all therefore don't read the ones you are not in to; e.g. I don't bother with model plane ones. Anyway each to their own. I hope you will change your mind. Fair winds.

OK, Len, welcome back. However, . . .
you have now set yourself the challenge of starting a "non-boring" thread. ;-)
Go on, go for it, you know you can do it!!!!!
All the best, Steve K

Welcome back Len!
I should explain to the members here that 'I know this man!', as Charlton Heston once said!
Len has very graciously explained the possible reason for his actions here, and after we left the pub at Cawsands, Cornwall, yesterday that probably explains his erratic navigational behaviour through Plymouth Sound, and up the Tamar, haha! However, we reached our moorings safely.
Oh yes, nearly forgot. we used his inflatable to ferry us to the shore. When he reached me he had run out of fuel, and we had to paddle back - occasionally going round in circles, LOL!
Sorry Len, only joking.
