Thanks for the pics.
I'm not sure if the ships are adding to the scenery or taking away from it but it still looks a lovely place to be able to go for a quick trip in the boat...

Great pictures, they bring back memories. There's a lovely woodland walk up the west side of the Fal, at Trellisick, and it is eerie when they are moving ships up and down the Fal as you suddenly see the bridge of a ship through the trees at about your eye height as the footpath is higher up than the river.

early days and many more ships to lay-up. News on market is that many ports / harbours / little used docks not only in UK are destined to have 'dead' ships laid up alongside / anchored.

Here's a funny thing - the Joint Hull Committee ("JHC" - the hull underwriters' professional association) used to maintain a list of 200-odd approved lay up berths.
They discontinued it in 2001!

nice pic's Alone the river at fareham there used to be any number of small boats left to rot. The council removded them some years ago. I have noticeed that they are starting to collect again. In one place there was a trimarang and it was a really nice boat but over the last three years it has been slowly stripped of parts. These are on a pay by year mouring someone must pay the bill or have the owners of the mouring not noticecd that no:... has a boat on it that is n ot paid for?
