For some time I have wanted to stretch my cruise limits, time spent and distance covered. Areas I would like to explore :
Riga Bay and it's small harbours, islands
Estonian coastline as it's got lots of inlets / rocky areas etc.
Return to Stockholm / Swedish Archipelago
Inland waters of Sweden and it's canals
Circumnavigate islands such as Gotland ... Saaremaa ... Hiumaa
Explore Finnish Archipelago and Aland Isles.
Go north up into Gulf of Bothnia
So quite a tall list and some real mileage in there ...
Anyone else with plans to reach those bits always dreamed or wanted to visit ? With boats as ours - many of those idyllic quiet backwaters are just our ticket ... away from the Hoorah Henry's !!

I've just moved mooring, so new grounds are all at hand. I want to spend a few days up the Humber having a poke around. Bridlington isn't too far away. North Norfolk will be getting at least one visit, would like to spend a few days down there. Big plan is a cruise north, just to see how far I get!

'Morning all,
Well, I'd really like to return to the Channel Islands later this year, not that I (hope) have ironed out most if not all of the problems I had the last time.
Also I'd like to get to the Scilly Isles. so, whenever I'm prepared, it will depend on the wind direction: West = Channel Islands, East = Scillies.

I know for many - a small boat seems to limit horizons - but only have to follow ggt and his trips to see that we have an advantage with out small boats. Jenku with his Alacritry is venturing further and for longer than many a similar sized boat owner would think of. My modest contribution of across Baltic / round Riga Bay also illustrates that we can do more than initially thought.
It wasn't so long ago that 20ftr's etc. were crossing the Channel regularly ... now it seems that 'experts' think they are not capable anymore ! I know modern similar sized boats are lighter construction, but does that really change the SQ that much ? Modern are self-draining, usually self-righting, near unsinkable compared to the ones some years back.
Maybe sense of adventure has been culled 'safety awareness', our thoughts of distant horizons ?
