For all the new possible members I think it suitable to explain about our Boards and how they are opertaed / organised.
The Boards are provided Free of Charge by the Pro-Boards network and in so doing we have to abide by their rules - which to be honest are reasonable.
The Club is based on Members and a Committee to control and moderate. This was decided on to try and bring a sense and reality of democracy to the club. It works and ensures that one person cannot spoil it for others.
All members on joining are asked to give a small intro to themselves and any boat they may have - post to be in the section at bottom of front Club page. Being a Club we like to think a more personal touch can generate and also knowing others helps in creating a friendly nice atmosphere.
The Club asks that confrontations be kept out of club pages along with any "from other boards". At times this is difficult - but we appreciate that we do not want to damage SBC.
We also require that no communication or copy of content be passed to other forums or services. We believe in trust of members to keep SBC for SBC members.
Any posts that may contravene or be regarded as unsuitable for SBC - are always moved to a safe area for consideration and to allow author / members to explain / accept or comment on to Committee. Committee reserves final decision on all matters.
To all please note that items available to Club Members such as Burgees etc. - are funded not from SBC, but from sellers own pocket. Requests for alterations etc. are considered as far as practicable, but it must be appreciated that stocks are usually ordered in to get best price and that means we need to sell those before new. All prices are literally as cost + p&p ...
Sorry to go on a bit and I hope that all can appreciate the work that guys like Jimbuoy and Committee do ... to keep SBC a friendly and warm place to be ...
We are growing ever stronger .. and still retaining the good will and camaraderie that makes SBC so unique.
Thank you all.
Nigel
